According to the Mayo Clinic, “massage can be a powerful tool to help you take charge of your health and well-being, whether you have a specific health condition or are just looking for another stress reliever.”

Therapeutic Massage Therapy

Using the label of Therapeutic Massage is a way to indicate that the purpose of the massage is meant to offer health benefits. Therapeutic Massage Therapy is defined as the mobilization of soft tissue (such as muscle, fascia, and body fluids) to restore normal systemic and biomechanical/functional use. It can be used to assist in the treatment of most musculo-skeletal and associated problems. Regular Therapeutic Massage Therapy results in improved circulatory, lymphatic and neurological functioning.

Therapeutic Massage can be stimulating or soothing depending on the technique, speed and depth of the massage. It is both a safe and effective way to promote balance and harmony from within.

Given the high levels of stress people live in today, Therapeutic Massage Therapy is not only a highly beneficial therapy, but also one of the healthiest options to improving one’s quality of life.

The benefits of Therapeutic Massage are profound and are becoming more attractive as the world around us becomes more stressed and anxiety ridden.

30-minute Targeted Massage

Deep Tissue Massage – Deep tissue massage is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue. It is a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to release Chronic muscle tension or knots (known as “adhesions”). It helps with chronic muscular pain and injury rehabilitation. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders. Although this type of massage can be more intense, it should not hurt. It is important to communicate with your therapist regarding pressure and intensity so that they can adapt their techniques as needed. This massage is always incorporated with other techniques.

Trigger Point Therapy – A trigger point is an area of  muscle that when compressed produces pain or other neurological sensations either within the area touched or in another area of the body. A trigger point can be caused from injury, poor posture, repetitive motion, or emotional stress. Trigger point therapy is used to relieve muscular pain and dysfunction through applied pressure to the trigger points of referred pain and through stretching exercises. When releasing the muscle of its tension the client’s comfort level is always addressed; feedback between the therapist and client is essential. The intention is to interrupt the pain cycle in a particular area of the body.

Neuromuscular Therapy – This comprehensive program of soft-tissue manipulation balances the body’s central nervous system with the musculoskeletal system.  Neuromuscular therapy can help individuals who experience distortion and biomedical dysfunction, which is often a symptom of a deeper problem such as spinal cord injuries,  head injuries, Parkinson’s disease, arthritis and stroke among others. It is also used to locate and release spasms, eliminate trigger points that cause referred pain, rebuild the strength of injured tissues, assist venous and lymphatic flow, and restore postural alignment, proper biomechanics, and flexibility to the tissues. NMT often dramatically increases flexibility, balance, strength and vital life energy by interrupting the pain pathways, improving circulation of the system of muscles that are in a deeper level and upgrading the health of the body on all levels.

Sports Massage – Sports Massage is a good option if you have a repetitive use injury to a muscle, such as what you may get from playing a sport. It is also a good option to help prevent sports injuries if you are prone to them. You may also use sports massage to increase flexibility and performance. Additionally, sports massage can be used to relieve pain, anxiety, and muscle tension.

A Sports Massage can be done as a full-body massage or the massage therapist may focus on the parts of the body that need the most attention. Deep pressure may be alternated with soothing stokes depending on your needs. You can have a Sports Massage clothed or nude. If you prefer to wear clothing, make sure it is thin, loose, and allows the therapist access to your muscles. Loose short and a tank top are good options.

Hot Himalayan Salt Stone Massage* – Hot Himalayan Salt Stone Massage is a leading-edge technique in the healing massage arts. This massage uses warm salt stones to soothe away stress and tension and promote an increased sense of wellbeing. The grounding properties of Himalayan Salt help improve sleep, reduce inflammation, eases muscle tension and stress, aid in detoxifying your body, and balance the Central Nervous System. Himalayan Salt Stone Massage supports electromagnetic overload from electronic devices. Each stone gives off negative ions helping to balance the positive ions given off from electronic devices that bombard our bodies daily. There are 84 minerals that enrich each salt stone. These minerals are absorbed into the skin as your therapist glides them along your skin. Each stone is naturally antimicrobial and antibacterial. The stone’s natural salt properties gently exfoliate the skin to promote naturally smooth, silky glowing skin, reducing the signs of aging.

Cupping Massage* – Cupping was developed thousands of years ago and though the techniques have modernized, the original philosophy remains the same. Cupping Massage combines the ancient tradition of cupping therapy with traditional massage techniques to increase lymph circulation, stimulate the nervous system, open meridians, bring blood flow to muscles and skin, loosen adhesions and stubborn knots in soft tissue. This is a unique and deeply relaxing alternative to deep tissue massage. Cupping Massage is beneficial for many conditions such as high blood pressure, anxiety, fatigue, chronic headache, fibromyalgia and neuralgia. Contracted, congested muscle tissue will soften quickly with only a few minutes of Cupping Massage.

Prenatal Massage* – Prenatal Massage is a nurturing massage that focuses on the special needs of mothers-to-be during pregnancy. Positioning, pillows, and cushions are used to enhance support, decrease pressure, and increase relaxation for both body and mind. Mother and baby share in the benefits as stress and tension melt away leaving you feeling energized and balanced. Prenatal Massage relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches, and edema (swelling). In addition, Prenatal Massage reduces stress on weight-bearing joints, encourages blood and lymph circulation, helps relax nervous tension aiding in better sleep, and can help relieve depression and anxiety caused by hormonal changes. Prenatal Massage is only performed after the first trimester. Please consult with your physician to see if Prenatal Massage is advised.

Cold Stone Massage* – Cold Stone Massage is an effective way to promote relaxation and revitalize the mind and body.  Certain people are naturally “hotter” and might prefer cooler things to feel more comfortable. A Cold Stone Massage is perfect for coolness and invigoration. Athletes who have sustained injuries can also benefit from a Cold Stone Massage. Cold constricts the blood vessels in the body which helps alleviate swelling. It promotes healing and reduces pain in the injured muscles and tissues. Those who experience sinus pain or inflammation are good candidates for Cold Stones as well. The cold temperature in the stones helps alleviate nasal swelling and sinus inflammation as well as reducing under eye bags and dark circles. Menstrual discomfort like bloating and pain due to cramps can be relieved by cold stones. Clients who suffer from high blood pressure may benefit from cold stone massage therapy as well. Overall, cold stones can improve a person’s mood, easing depression, decreasing anxiety, and generally increasing their overall energy level.

Cold Stone Massages are NOT recommended for clients who suffer from heart ailments, have easily inflamed skin, have kidney problems, and are sensitive to cold temperatures.

Effective October 1, 2018, we will require a credit card to book a massage appointment. It will be held on file for that appointment and charged in case of cancellation (please see Cancellation Policy below). Please be considerate of your appointment time and arrive at least fifteen minutes prior to your scheduled time in order to complete massage intake paperwork and ensure a full massage session. This paperwork is a brief health history indicating any medical history, injuries, or physical conditions your therapist should be aware of to tailor a perfect massage for your needs. If you are late for your scheduled appointment, time will be deducted from your massage in order to not affect other client’s appointments. All of our massages include a total of 10 (ten) minutes of time to allow for consultation and dressing which occurs pre- and post-massage.

We understand that unanticipated events happen occasionally in everyone’s life. It is our desire to be fair to our clients and our therapists equally. As such, we have adopted the following cancellation policy:

You may cancel without charge up to 24 hours preceding your scheduled appointment.

Same day cancellations will be charged 100% of the scheduled service.

No-Shows: Anyone who either forgets or consciously chooses to forgo their appointment with no contact, will be considered a “no-show”.  No-shows will be charged the full amount of the “missed” appointment.

For the health and wellbeing of you, our client, our therapists, and other clients we ask that if you have a fever, have been in the hospital, have been vomiting or with diarrhea within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment, or it begins a couple of hours prior to your scheduled session, or your children are ill, please cancel your appointment.
